The Dark Night in Aurora

I was really excited to post my #TDKR review and send it out on twitter, FB, scoop.it, Empire Avenue, and even Pinterest. Then, I hit the sack for a much deserved good night’s sleep. When I woke up the next morning though, I woke up to the tragedy, FoxNews (yea, shocker, right) was airing the details, about 7am Eastern Time, and I just couldn’t understand WHY someone would do something so calculated and heinous, but I was relieved when I heard they got the guy, and more to the point, they got him alive. Good, now maybe we can get a why out of him, I was hoping.
Then, mere hours later, I heard Bloomberg was demanding action on Gun Control legislation. The bodies weren’t even all out of the theater yet! I was incensed that something still, literally, bleeding in our theaters was political fodder for the likes of Bloomberg, a rank Communist. A guy who thinks that no one has any personal responsibility nor accountability, to the point where he is trying to limit the size of soda and popcorn sold in his city. This was a city that used to have large hairy testicles, but is now allowing some pencil-neck geek, like Bloomberg dictate to them what is “only good for them.” I want to say I was shocked by what I was hearing, but I knew what the day was going to bring . . . blame the guns. I wanted to altogether avoid saying anything about this topic, but I feel forced out by idiots like Bloomberg and this yutz at The Young Turks. So, I waited two days.
Bloomberg and his cronies want the UN to essentially control small arms around the world, he already has his city with the strictest gun laws other than Chicago, and both cities are rife with gun violence, and why . . . because people who want to kill you, will. People who are killers, the last thing they give a shit about is if they can get the gun LEGALLY. Do you honestly think that if Holmes needed to buy a gun illegally, or all of his guns, he couldn’t have found them somewhere illegally? The guy is a neuro-scientist; I am betting if he couldn’t have obtained guns, he would have used poison gas, or worse, just barred the theater doors and tossed in home-made napalm or a simple Molotov Cocktail. Do we ban fire and liquor, then? I think we tried banning liquor awhile back. Yea, that kept people from drinking!
I think back to a time when I was younger and my dad got his Mustang and was doing all he could to keep it from being stolen, and he said, “If a professional car thief wants your car, he’s gonna get it, no matter what you do.” [Swift Aside: As I publish this, our writer Sergio had his car stolen in Miami] That is how I feel about these madmen amongst us, where there is a will, there is a way. Guns are not evil, by their nature, anymore than a Cuisinart is evil, but shove a person’s hand in there, and you have a nasty weapon. I learned that watching The Goonies. An SUV is just a machine, but run one into a family, and you just destroyed a family, or several . . . intentionally or not.
Had I been in Theater 9, and not armed, I would have been killed, as I would have ducked for cover. I read articles that he was methodically shooting people who were doing just that, taking cover.
Had I been in the Theater and was armed, I would have been killed, because I would have put two in his 10 ring and they would have ricocheted off his armor; the guy even had his nuts under armor. Hopefully though, me returning shots down range might have prevented him from his plan of walking the entire theater steps, and don’t give me that crap about tear gas or not being able to recognize a shooter etc. [For one, I was trained how to react to a tear-gas attack, and there were soldiers on scene at the shooting] I mean, the guy opening up with the rifle is probably the bad guy, and any armed citizens shooting at him are probably not. Frankly I am saddened that not one of the soldiers on scene was able to return fire, apparently none were carrying that evening. It would have made for a better “real American” story though, where this madman had to face at least some rounds!
Had I been in Theater 9 and he tossed in napalm or something like an incendiary grenade, I would be dead. In all the scenarios, I would be dead, but in at least one I stood a fighting chance. Bloomberg wants to take that chance away from me . . . why? It isn’t really so that he can “keep the streets safer,” it is because he knows that “a well regulated Militia” is the last thing he wants in his Empire State. But our founders KNEW that it was “necessary to the security of a FREE state.” Folks, the guy wants to take away your freedom . . . let that sink in.
I am writing this article in direct rebuttal to The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur who says that you must capitalize on a tragedy like this to end guns “on the streets.” He makes no bones about it; he has an agenda, in his world, no one would have guns. Ok, let’s explore that a bit, no one would have guns . . . really? So, guns would just be uninvented? Or, do you mean no law-abiding citizens would have guns, because mere gun ownership would be a crime? You can be damned sure that the criminals would love that news, no longer would they even have to worry about sticking a gun in your face, what are you going to do about it? Cry for help and die, most likely.
This country was forged by the Rifleman, our ability to out-shoot the Redcoats, with our rifled bores was a huge advantage, we owe our nation to the Rifle – - – PERIOD! If you want to BLAME guns for anything, blame them for that! They were a tool, used by professionals (nay, amateur soldiers, but professional hunters) to kick the Brits the hell out! We were the first to successfully oust the British, and the founders knew that without the Second Amendment, the First Amendment could not stand. Because no man is free, unless he is able to protect the ones he loves from an enemy.
Of course, freedom is becoming a four-letter word these days. Freedom is a word that will be used more and more, by those taking it from you. The Freedom Tower, being built in NYC, will stand for freedom . . . of what, though? In a city where freedom is just a word and the men that fought to make our nation free are long gone, this nation is slowly perishing from the earth, because weak-minded idiots are steering a sheepish populace in the name of a Nanny Utopia . . . and like most fairy-tales, it doesn’t exist!
So, since the NRA now has to respond to attacks from every corner, instead of just being able to mourn with the rest of the nation, (and worse are somehow being vilified by the actions of a psychotic madman) allow me to send out a message to those who would use a word like freedom and then bend over backwards to have that very freedom destroyed. You don’t deserve freedom.
On July 20th, 2012, the best film by the Nolans came out, on that same day, a terrible person killed 12 people at the film’s premiere in Colorado. Let not their deaths be a catalyst for fear, let not their deaths be a call to end our Republic in the name of safety. If you want guaranteed safety, grow up, you aren’t infants anymore. People die every day, some in a lot more horrific ways than we just witnessed in America, some are decapitated with rusty machetes, some are set on fire, some are hanged, some are tortured, some are drowned. Some are run over and some are ripped-in-two by sharks, and yes, some are shot! If we cease being free, and we allow idiots like the “Young Turks” (whatever the hell that means) to persuade us to act foolishly, we can no longer call ourselves the United States of America. We need to be called something more fitting . . . the Cowards of America!
