Rare Exports: A ‘Finnish’ Christmas Tale

We’ve all heard the adage that it isn’t right to “sell Santa” – it cheapens the holiday season and dilutes the magical memories of our youth, when we all believed in the flying deer and a bottomless sack of toys hand-delivered just for us. But what if you captured the real Santa Claus and he wasn’t so jolly? Rare Exports’ latest film d’WTF delivers us that plot wrapped up in a box with … chains … snowmobiles … odd attire … quirky character acting and all set a million miles from what we consider ‘civilization’, freakin’ Finland!
Not only do these Fins “capture” the bearded man, they decide to sell him, literally. Too bad Santa Claus checked his list twice and found these hapless half-wits guilty of naughtiness. What happens? Who knows? But, you know you gotta find out, I mean Christmas is right around the corner, how is Santa gonna deliver all your goodies if he is trapped in a freakin’ box in Finland?
If you are tired of Ralphie and his little bb gun, why not stuff your cineophile’s stocking with this “Fargo” meets “King Kong” meets every Santa Claus film holiday treat? Or, go on and stick to your fruitcake and contribute to the landfill down the road. Don’t be afraid of the unusual, I myself am strange and unusual and you like me mighty fine.
Either way, Santa knows if you are a naughty lad or lass, pray he can’t find your home! Check out the trailer below, and it isn’t exactly something you want the young ones peeping, ok?
