Hannah Montana: The Movie

Saddle up kids, we’re going to Tennessee!

Now Levi, take that straw out of yer mouth! It mighta been tinkled on, honest to Pete!
Storyline
Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus – *wink, wink,* but don’t tell anyone! ) has always had the best of both worlds: being herself and being the superstar the world loves, Hannah Montana! She’s lived the life others could only dream of: sold out concerts; millions of adoring fans; and like ahh, ga-zillion glitter-hair barrettes, like, yeah, no duh. You name it and this girl has it, but after a few too many unexpected and awkward events occur, causing the media to closely scrutinize if “Hannah” is really the cupcake she is portrayed to be, her dad (Billy Ray Cyrus) decides to take her back home.
Tennessee, here we come! A thousand really poor hillbilly jokes are lining up in my head like rednecks waiting to see a monster truck rally, right now. Dad wants to make sure she unplugs from the “superstar-ism” she’s enjoyed for some time, desiring for her to learn what family values are all about. So she rekindles with her roots and a new love interest helps her make a decision that will change her life forever. Will she leave there still wanting to be Hannah Montana? Like: Oh. My. God !!?
The Cast
Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Lucas Till and Vanessa Williams make up the main players. What I thought was most refreshing was many of the cast came directly from her show, often a few don’t make it when a TV series jumps to the silver screen due to budgets, attitudes, more trailers with their favorite kind of tic-tacs, etc., but everyone made it on and even had a few lines! They all did a great job. The acting was spot on: entertaining; meaningful…well; except one particular actor. I still can’t figure out poor Billy Ray. Don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely not poor with the music stardom he’s built, but the guy can’t act. Someone, please get us a stunt double – and quick! They don’t even have to “stunt” either — just act.
The Good, Bad and Indifferent
I thought the movie went well with a smooth storyline, solid acting minus Billy. This was a great, “…and the moral of the story is,” flick. The movie stayed consistent with the show but allowed for a larger story/character arc for the audience to enjoy, rather than her TV series. Great music, especially Miley’s new single: The Climb. Peter Chelsom(Director) blew my mind as the slated director since he really hasn’t directed much – the last piece he worked on was back in ’05. The studio must have owed him one. *Tapping finger on desk.* Again, Billy needs to relax a bit and let the acting come more natural –I got it! I see the big picture here too!! Here, Billy-Billy-Billy. Eat this meatball. Ya might crunch down something chalky (six Zanex or so – he, he). Now, we hav’ta check ya into the nearest rehab or jump ya right on the Celebrity Rehab show with Dr. Drew! Talk about the Hannah Montana ratings going through the roof! I’m really onto something here, right?!! On a side note, it should be illegal for the letter “y” to be used in your first and middle name in public.
Bottom Line
If you have a little one, take him/her to the show. They’ll love you for it. Uplifting story for anyone to enjoy. “Cute as a bug’s rear,” as a true Tennessee-ianwould dribble out. Afterwards you too can pop a Zanex, or six, and cozy up with Billy Ray and Dr. Drew. Kidding of course - ol’ number 7, Black Label Jack gets you where you need to be a hell of a lot quicker.
Rick Swift says, “Ck found this review stuck in his sofa, along with some remnants of a gyro he keeps in there to remind him of Greece. So let’s call this one a lost archive of iratefilms, if you will permit.”

I liked this flick just fine, when I told someone I knew I had this on my NF list, she said, you just went down in stock with me. But, I gotta tell ya, I enjoyed it, I think it was one ol Walt himself would have been happy to introduce on Sunday night Disney Family night. Great fun for all ages might be a cliche, but as my dad always said, cliches become cliches because they are true. It's ok to watch this one and enjoy it, if your friends give you a hard time about it, tell them to watch and see if they still feel the same way. Plus, who cares about stock these days, have you been following the world, we're boned!
